As a frequent visitor over the years, I recently had the pleasure of playing once again at the renowned Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Each visit here reaffirms why this course remains a staple in my golfing itinerary. True to its reputation, the course was immaculate, and the greens rolled fast and accurately, providing a pristine golfing experience that never disappoints.

Quidnessett Country Club offers a challenging yet scenic golfing adventure. Designed by the celebrated Geoffrey S. Cornish, the course opened in 1959 and spans 6,940 yards with a par 72. The back tees present a formidable challenge, with a slope rating of 128 and a course rating of 73.4. On this particular day, my group and I decided to enjoy a slightly less demanding round, opting for the white tees, which suited our playing abilities more comfortably.

The course layout at Quidnessett is a golfer’s delight, featuring several memorable holes that stand out for their challenge and breathtaking beauty. One such hole is the 592-yard par-5 11th, which offers stunning views of Narragansett Bay. The hole’s demanding approach to a narrow green tests skill and strategy. Following this, the par-3 12th hole, playing at 185 yards, provides another visual treat with its beautiful bay backdrop, making it a favorite among players.

One of Quidnessett’s most commendable aspects is its impeccable maintenance and excellent drainage. Despite recent thundershowers that could have left many courses in less-than-ideal condition, Quidnessett played perfectly. The greens were flawless, and the fairways were lush, a testament to the outstanding care and attention the grounds crew dedicates to this course.

The practice facilities at  are also top-notch. Golfers can warm up at the spacious driving range, fine-tune their short game in the designated chipping area, or perfect their putting on the extensive practice green. These facilities are perfect for both beginners looking to improve and seasoned players aiming to maintain their skills.

Quidnessett Country Club is more than just a golf course; it’s an experience. The picturesque setting, well-maintained greens, and various challenging holes make it a popular choice for golfers in the region. The course’s strategic layout ensures players of all skill levels can enjoy a rewarding round, whether tackling the more demanding back tees or opting for the friendlier white tees.

If you ever have the good fortune to receive an invitation to play at Quidnessett, I recommend accepting. The scenic beauty, challenging play, and superior course conditions make it a can’t-miss experience for any golfer. Each visit to Quidnessett feels like a new adventure, with its stunning views and pristine greens offering a visual and sporting feast. Whether you’re a local golfer or visiting the region, a day at Quidnessett Country Club is an unforgettable part of your golfing journey.
